WPTF (680 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station broadcasting a news/talk radio format. Licensed to Raleigh, the station serves the Research Triangle area of North Carolina. The radio studios are located on Highwoods Boulevard in Raleigh, and the transmitter tower is on Chapel Hill Road (North Carolina Highway 54), near Maynard Road NE, in Cary, North Carolina. The station is owned by the Curtis Media Group.
Today, WPTF, North Carolina’s second oldest continuously licensed broadcast station, operates 24 hours a day on 680 khz with 50,000 watts (nighttime directional), until 1987, studios were in the WPTF building, 410 South Salisbury Street, Raleigh, with transmitter and towers located at Cary, North Carolina.
