We launched Smooth Jazz 247 in June 2011. It is designed to be a replacement for the terrestrial FM smooth jazz stations that were so popular in the years leading up to that point. By the time we launched the channel, most of those FM stations had gone or flipped formats. We believe that there are millions of people that love smooth jazz and still want a smooth jazz station to tune in to. Most web radio channels provide a good supply of non-stop music, but it was felt that a lot of people would enjoy some presenter dialogue along with it too.
